Mobile Seed Grading Technician
Position Profile
We are seeking candidates to fill positions in WA and NSW who either have experience operating seed grading and treating equipment or suit our criteria and can be trained to become Mobile Seed Grading Technicians. These roles start at the beginning of October, with our extensive training and induction programme, before moving onto a unit and servicing our customers.
If successful, you will become apart of an exclusive team across Australia. SCL is the sole operator of all Seed Shield mobile seed grading units. We process over 150,000 tonnes of seed for over 1,000 customers across Southeren Australia annually. This is a dynamic part of our business with a rapidly expanding client base. Operating a heavy rigid truck and trailer, you will be following a schedule set by the co-ordinator driving from farm to farm cleaning, grading and treating their seed. Given there is a lot of responsibility that goes with this position, you will be rewarded very well. Here's some information regarding what the job entails.
Selection Criteria
- Must be self-motivated and be able to work on your own to complete scheduled jobs
- Happy to work outside in the elements from October through to May each season
- HR license and truck driving experience
- Ability to reverse a trailer and manoeuvre in confined areas safely
- Happy to work away from home
- Have a friendly disposition and the ability to communicate to farmers
- Technology savvy
- Proven record keeping and mathematical abilities
- Fit and agile
- Teachable, honest and be a team player
- Ability to plan and schedule
- Show initiative
- Ability to problem solve
- Cope well under pressure and maintain a relaxed friendly attitude at all times
- Be flexible and adaptable when it comes to unavoidable changes to the schedule
Preferred experience and attributes
- An understanding of agricultural practises, particularly grain handling associated equipment
- An understanding of seed cleaning and grain growing concepts
- Seed Grading and treating experience
- An undertanding of harvest and seeding operations
- Knowledge of grain and weed seed types
Other important points
- Must have the ability to handle working in hot conditions
- If you are rural based, you may be able to base yourself at your home and service customers within a 2-500km radius of your home
- The job management system is all online. There is manual data entry to complete also. Therefore, you must be tech savvy and be competent, accurate and timely in completing paperwork
- High standards of hygiene at the job site maintained always
- Truck and equipment must be maintained always
- Must be deemed competent after training before moving onto a seed grading unit
